Two big local weather stories this week:

(1) rain - a nearly stationary front will hang out across Fl. through Tue. night. A pretty strong upper level disturbance will move across the area Tue.-Tue. night helping to increase coverage & intensity of the rain with a few imbedded t'storms. Rain should be widespread with amounts averaging 0.25-0.75" but locally 1-2". Rain will end early Wed. followed by clearing.

Radar imagery below courtesy S. Fl. Water Management District:

(2) Much cooler air will funnel into the area behind the front becoming most noticeable Wed. night through the end of the week. Lows will tumble to the 40s inland each morning through Sat. -- the coolest since mid May ... with the most consecutive nights in the 40s since April & possibly March! Afternoon highs will only be 70-75 degrees & southwesterly flow aloft by the weekend could spread high & mid level clouds across the First Coast making it feel especially cool (but still nice!).

The weekend started warm & humid with a cold front (same front just to our south now) triggering late day/early evening showers & isolated storms. One particularly strong line of storms formed over Eastern Nassau Co. & the produced the gust front (roll cloud) below. The first pic is from Melissa Rowland, Fernandina Beach.... the 2nd photo is from Taylor in Hastings, Fl (St. Johns Co.)....the last image is from our Skycam Network at Fernandina Beach.
