Our warm, humid weather is here to stay. The greatest concern will be occasional fog at night into the early morning. Highs will reach well into the 70s to around 80 degrees inland & when/if the clouds break earlier on any given day, temps. will easily reach the low 80s. The intracoastal & beaches will generally be 5-10 degrees cooler during the mid day through afternoon thanks to at least some onshore (from the east) component to the surface winds & periods of sea fog. So all this early season (mid winter) warmth will likely lead to an early round of tree pollen, especially pine. The typical pine tree pollen peak is late Feb.-March. But we've already seen pine pollen in some areas, & this will only get worse during the next week or so. A freeze would shut pollen down for a while, but I don't see a freeze before at least late next week. It's possible we'll end up with 2(!) tree pollen seasons this winter/spring depending on weather patterns.
2 Great White sharks have been getting a lot of coverage as they swim off the First Coast. It is not, by the way, at all unusual for Great Whites to hang out near our coast during the winter. Click ** here ** to track the sharks -- pretty cool!
