Warm Thu. then a Cold Front... Fall Foliage Photos... Typhoon Headed for Philippines
A warm Thu. with temps. hitting 80+ before a cold front shifts the wind to the north & northeast bringing cooler air for Fri. that will last through the weekend. Highs will only be a bit below avg. to near avg. so some nice autumn weather through the weekend with highs in the upper 60s at the beaches & low to mid 70s inland. Inland temps. will dip into the 40s early Sat. & Sun. So nice weather for the first weekend of the Jacksonville Greater Ag Fair.
And while we've stayed relatively warm the last several weeks, autumn is in full color to our north. Photos below are from my mother-in-law near Cincinnati, Oh. Click ** here ** for Ga. "leaf watch".
Only a few weeks left for the Atlantic Basin hurricane season with no sign of any tropical development anytime soon. I do believe the Caribbean is an area to watch as water temps. remain very warm & there is a steady parade of quite strong high pressure systems across the Northern U.S. into the NW Atlantic. This type of pattern naturally induces low pressure to the south & might lead to low pressure in or near the SW Atlantic, Caribbean &/or Gulf of Mexico. It would then be possible for the low to become tropical, but this is purely a pattern recognition & forecast models are showing no such development -- at least not yet.
But it's a much different story in the far W. Pacific where mighty super typhoon "Haiyan" is pounding the Central Philippines as a Cat. 5!
It looks like "Haiyan" will enter the Philippines near Butuan & south of Calbayon passing approximately 100 miles (160 km) to the south of Manila upon its exit from the islands.
