Another warming trend will begin Tue. & continue through the week, weekend & right into early next week. There will be a couple of "hiccups":
(1) a few fast-moving upper level disturbances that will cause thicker cloud cover & some light rain. The first disturbance will roll through the area Tue. night, the 2nd late Thu. into early Fri. Most of the rain Tue. night will not be measurable with generally less than a quarter of an inch with the 2nd disturbance later in the week.
(2) an onshore east wind -- especially Thu. & again over the weekend -- will bring cooler temps. to the beaches.
There are signs of an active weather pattern for next week for the Lower 48 as well as a potentially significant intrusion of arctic air. There might be enough meridional upper level flow (north to south) to draw some of the coldest air of the winter so far (which hasn't been much!) south to the Gulf Coast including the First Coast. We're looking at late next week (Valentine's Day or later) & realize that forecast models much of this season have had a bias of spreading too much cold air too far south. Something to keep an eye on.
"Big" day Tue. -- "National Weatherperson's Day"! I insisted to my family that I should get the day off & that it's even bigger than Father's Day(!) but without much enthusiasm on their part, so I decided it probably wouldn't float with my "other" boss (at work!). In any case.... I intend to enjoy the big day.....while working. I will give my youngest daughter credit Tue. evening as she told me "Weather Peron's Day starts in a few hours, Dad" when I tucked her into bed. Weatherperson's day, by the way, is in honor of John Jeffries' birthday, one of of the first weather observers in the U.S. to take daily measurements in the late 18th & early 19th centuries.
