Windy, Warm Friday... Quick Shot of Rain... Weekend Temp. Dip... "Fall Back"... Nov. Averages
Friday(!) will be windy & warm as temps. quickly jump well into the 80s & will again be within a degrees of record highs for Nov. 1 (Halloween high of 84 degrees was just 2 degrees short of the record high). There will be some cloud cover in advance of a strong upper level disturbance & approaching cold front. A few afternoon showers will be possible, but the bulk of the rain will spread west to east just in advance of the front Fri. night through Sat. morning. Everyone should see at least some rain with amounts averaging a tenth to a half inch. The good news is that it looks like the front will move across the First Coast early enough so that we'll salvage most of Sat. afternoon with some afternoon sun & temps. rebounding to the mid to upper 70s.
So it looks like the rain will be over by kickoff for Fl./Ga. despite an ugly-looking start to the day. Some sun, a NW breeze at 10-20 mph & temps. between 75 & 80 before dropping off in the 2nd half after sunset.
Much cooler air will follow for Sat. night with inland temps. dropping into the 40s. Sunday will be mostly sunny, breezy & cooler but nice with highs only near 70 at the beaches & in the low to mid 70s inland.
We "fall back" one hour Sunday. What a difference the time change will make as sunrise will be at 6:43am.....sunset at 5:37pm.Remember to check your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries when they set their clocks back this weekend.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that 28 million homes in the United States are at risk because they either don’t have smoke alarms or their smoke alarms do not work, mostly due to dead or missing batteries. A working smoke alarm can make the difference in whether you have the critical extra seconds to safely escape.
As we turn the calendar to Nov., here are your avg's for JIA:
