JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You want to see me turn my smile into a frown? Have me talk about ATM surcharges.
That's because they keep going up and up and up. Adjusted for inflation, they're up 20 percent over the last few years. So here's the thing. You should never, ever, have to pay an ATM surcharge.
Regardless if you bank at a bank or a credit union there's almost always a way for you to avoid paying the ATM junk fees. The fees can be as much as $5 using an ATM in the United States.
I've seen as much as $10 outside the United States. There is a website you can go to to see all the places around the country you can go to and avoid an ATM surcharge.
