Clark Howard: Cable bills
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you're someone who has decided to cut the cord or you never hooked up the cord, do you know what that is? That's paying for either the cable company or the satellite company.
What happens most often is you get local channels on a digital antenna and the picture by the way is extraordinary with a digital antenna and you pay nothing for that programming.
Then you might supplement it with Netflix, Hulu Plus or Amazon Prime. Any of the special add-on, over-the-top packages where you don't get them through a cable company or satellite company. You just get them over the Internet.
Well that's causing a problem for the cable companies is that they lose the revenue that they have been depending for pay TV. So Comcast is experimenting now in more and more cities with metered Internet use.
Kind of how you pay for power where you pay for every kilowatt hour you use. The same thing with Internet. Be careful with every change in terms of service. Actually read them because you could get a big bill shock if you don't.
