Clark Howard: Facebook Wi-Fi
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Facebook is offering free Wi-Fi. It's a test by Facebook to actually gather more information on you so they can serve up more targeted ads to you.
The test is going on in northern California, where you can go to a variety of places and have free Wi-Fi compliments of Facebook. You have to have a Facebook account and sign into it.
Then they know exactly where you are, when you're there, what you're doing, and can serve up ads. It goes to this core thing about the Internet and social media.
What do you get for free in return for giving up your privacy? It's a choice you and I are going to face more and more.
As we travel about, do we want the convenience? In return for the convenience, are we willing to give up our privacy and our personal freedom? You'll have to make the call. I like the free stuff.
