JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The government isn't the only entity tracking your moves in the digital world.
The private sector is using similar information to build profiles on how you shop.
Businesses are tracking you continuously.
It's called data mining.
When you go shopping, your cashier innocently asks for your zip code. The request is to help build a profile on you.
Companies can find out anything they need about you just from your credit card number and zip code.
Here's a simple rule to follow to protect your privacy. Anything you wouldn't want grandma to know about, be extra careful about what you say on a phone, send in an e-mail or text because somebody is watching, somewhere.
