JACKSONVILLE Fla. -- If you buy something online and it doesn't fit, is broken or you decide you just don't like it, you return it right? So when you take advantage of the online sellers return policy and you return the item you get a credit to your credit card and you think everything is fine.
Well I want to tell you about a problem that's referred to as the zombie return. After you returned it, after you got that credit, maybe even months later the charge reappears on your statement.
Somehow the shipping and returns department has a mess up with the credit and billing department. They think you didn't return the item and repost the charge. They're not trying to rip you off, so you have to protect yourself.
Anytime you return an item to an online seller, you're returning it usually by UPS or Fedex. You want to track it and you want to print out the record that it has been received by the online seller.
If the charge ever reposts to your card you can say look, I've got the proof. Here's the tracking number from my return. Protect your wallet.
