Clark Howard: Selling electronics
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you've got old electronics piling up in a drawer somewhere, there are websites that will pay you for your stuff.
With old electronics, you snooze and you lose. Because what was yesterday's hot item is today's nearly worthless thing. Let me give you an example. My executive producer in radio had a Wii. When she got it, she spent $400 for it.
Remember they were rationed several years ago and hard to buy. Well, she went to get rid of it because her kids don't play with Wii anymore. She was offered $12 for it as a used machine.
Cell phones are one thing that was the hottest thing a year ago. Today, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is worth almost nothing. Because why? The new Samsung Galaxy S4 is coming out.
So if you have old electronics, as soon as you don't need them anymore - sell them! If you have an old game machine, give them to a kid's charity.
As far as how best to sell these things, there are several online sellers you can look at for selling your electronics.
