2012 Dream 18: Hole Number Five
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Our annual Father's Day edition of the Dream 18 takes us to Selva Marina Country Club for a great shot by the greatest golfer of all time.
In 1966, Jack Nicklaus recorded a double eagle on the par 5 18th hole with a 4-iron from the fairway. The shot was hit in the Greater Jacksonville Open and jumped Nicklaus to a third place finish on that day.
Selva Marina has a plaque in the middle of the fairway commemorating the legendary shot.
On this episode of the Dream 18, club historian David Hansen helps tell the story of the double eagle since he was there that day. The players on this episode all try to duplicate Nicklaus's rare feat.
