CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- We rolled the dash mobile out of the garage, put a fresh coat of wax on the ol' girl. We gassed up and rolled out for the first Friday Night Blitz of 2013. The dash mobile laid 76 miles worth of rubber on the roads of northeast Florida and the theme of night was down to the wire.
Stop number one for the dash was in Green Cove Springs to see Clay and Fleming Island square off in a Clay County rivalry game. It lived up to the hype. It went into overtime and Fleming Island won 17-14.
Then the dash mobile motored across the Shands Bridge into St. Johns County to the driver's alma mater at Bartram Trail. Two of the area's best quarterbacks went at it. Bishop Kenny jumped all over the Bears. Down 21 points, Bartram Trail scored 40 straight points. Then the Crusaders went on a run of their own and scored with just 20 seconds left to defeat the Bears 47-43.
It was good night of football for dash week one. Until next week, dash on my friend.
