YULEE, Fla. -- On the afternoon of the biggest game in school history, Yulee star running back Derrick Henry committed to playing college football at Alabama. Henry was originally committed to Georgia before reopening the process and checking out other options. The 6'4", 240 lb. running back's final three included Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Henry is coming off a record breaking performance that saw him rush for a state single-game record 502 yards and six touchdowns in a victory over Jackson. It also lifted his all-time total to 9,255, passing Emmitt Smith for second in Florida history. The man he trails is fellow senior and UF commit Kelvin Taylor. Kelvin's father Fred Taylor and current Jaguars are expected to be in attendance when Yulee and Glades day face off in a nationally televised game tonight.
