JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - DeMarcus Walker hasn't forgotten where his football career started.
"I could have taken Action Sports anywhere, but I took them here because this is where it all started," said Walker to a group of middle school football players this week.
Walker didn't start playing football until the 7th grade. His career began at Landmark Middle School in Jacksonville and five years later Walker still visits his old coaches on a weekly basis.
The defensive end/linebacker was too big to play Pop Warner so that's why his football career got a late start. His next stop on that career will be Alabama.
Walker committed to Nick Saban's Crimson Tide last Friday on ESPN. He's a big time player that remembers his humble beginnings.
"Once you get to high school, there's a lot of pressure," Walker told the kids after practice. "I just hope and pray you all stay focused."
If they do, they could end up like DeMarcus Walker.
