3 Up & 3 Down
An initial look at three players or units whose performance were up and three who were down in the Jaguars 27-7 loss to the Texans.
UP
1. Bryan Anger
Punter has a strong game averaging 51.3 yards on 9 punts for 462 yards. He pinned 3 inside the 20 yard line and by and large led to the Jaguars ability to shift field position on the Texans. Only problem is this is the only player that played well today.
Down
1. Offense
No matter how you look at this game this was a catastrophe for Blaine Gabbert and the offense. The line couldn't block, the receivers couldn't get open, the running backs struggled to find holes and the quarterbacks played poorly. No other way to put it but this was the worst offensive showing in Jaguars team history as the Jaguars gained only 117 yards of total offense while gaining only 9 first downs and converting no third down opportunities.
2. Defense
Gives up 411 yards with 216 coming on the ground as the defensive front did everything possible to ensure huge games by the Arian Foster and Ben Tate. Secondary faired no better as they forced only 9 incompletions on the day.
3. Coaching Staff
Not a good game plan on the day and did not adjust well to what the Texans were doing on both sides of the ball. Had an opportunity early to set a tone for the game by having a fourth and short near the Texans 40 yard line on the first drive of the game but chose to play passively and punted. The team seemed to feed off of this and play passive the rest of the way allowing the Texans to take control of the game and walk away with an easy victory.
