JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--The Jacksonville Jaguars and more than thousand fans and business leaders in the community huddled up for the kickoff lunch at the Prime F. Osborn Convention Center. Jaguars owner Shad Khan and offensive lineman Eben Britton pulled off the biggest laughs. Mr. Khan thanked the crowd for their support and added the team is ready to be held accountable. Khan asked GM Gene Smith and team president Mark Lamping to stand up and be recognized before adding, "I'm out of town a lot so if you have a problem, call them".
The 75 man roster was introduced by Brian Sexton. Wide receiver Justin Blackmon and quarterback Blaine Gabbert received two of the loudest ovations, but Britton stole the show when he said that offensive lineman don't get to talk much and that he was going to make the most of it. Britton looked at his watch and said I'll try and have you out of here by 2 o'clock. It was around 1:25 when he said it. Britton got a cheer when he closed by saying that the offensive line was going to be the meanest, most violent, and nasty group in the NFL.
Mayor Alvin Brown thanked Mr. Khan for his efforts in raising the profile of the city of Jacksonville around the world. Mike Mularkey promised the crowd that the Jags might not win every game, but they will play hard enough and be well enough prepared to win.
The preseason wraps up on Thursday night in a 6:30 kick with the Atlanta Falcons on CBS47. The pregame show begins at 6:00.
