JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--The Jacksonville Jaguars signed first-year wide receiver Jeremy Ebert to a contract and waived defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton, the club announced today. 

Ebert, 6-0, 195, was a seventh-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2012 and also spent time on the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie.  He re-signed with the Patriots on Jan. 21, 2013 and was waived on April 29.

Ebert played in 49 career games with 32 starts at Northwestern.  He started his final 23 games and registered 173 career receptions for 2,400 yards and 21 touchdowns.   He led the team in receiving his final two seasons including 1,060 yards on 75 catches and 11 touchdowns as a senior.  Five of his eight career 100-yard games came in his final season including a career-high 208 yards on seven receptions against Rice.

The Hilliard, Ohio native attended Hilliard Darby High School where he was a standout quarterback.  He finished his career with 2,692 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, while throwing for 3,835 yards and 30 scores.  He also lettered in basketball and track.  His father, Chip, is the athletics director at Darby.
