JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jaguars today were awarded fourth-year wide receiver Anthony Armstrong off waivers from Miami.

Armstrong, 5-11, 179, has played in 34 games with 13 starts since entering the NFL as a rookie free agent with Miami in 2008.  He has 54 career receptions for 986 yards (18.3 avg.) and five touchdowns.  Armstrong played in five games for the Dolphins earlier this season after he was acquired off waivers from Washington on Sept. 1 and made three receptions for 12 yards.

He spent two seasons (2010-11) with the Redskins where he played in 29 games and totaled a career-high 44 catches for 871 yards and three touchdowns in 2010.  Armstrong had four receptions of 50-plus yards in 2010 which tied for the third-most in the NFL.  He spent his entire rookie season on the Dolphins practice squad in 2008 and the majority of the 2009 season on the Redskins practice squad.

A native of Carrollton, Texas, Armstrong was a four-year letterman at West Texas A&M where he finished with 145 receptions for 1,768 yards.  He attended Newman Smith High School in Texas and lettered in football and track.
