JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The value of the fullback in the NFL has diminished over the years, but the skill set of Greg Jones at the position may be under appreciated. The former Florida State star has paved the way for Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor for the years. Now he is a free agent and the long time Jaguar could be on his way out.
"I started my career here and I want to finish it here." Jones said. "It's business and it's out of my hands."
With over a three million dollar salary Jones has been on the roster bubble before. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch plans on using a fullback, but likely not at that price. Like many of the Jaguars current free agents, if Jones wants to stay in Jacksonville, he might have to take a hometown discount.
