Jaguars sign LB Geno Hayes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jaguars signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Geno Hayes to a contract and released wide receiver Laurent Robinson, the club announced today.  Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed. 

Hayes, 6-1, 226, is entering his sixth NFL season after being selected in the sixth round of the 2008 draft by Tampa Bay.  He played four seasons with the Buccaneers (2008-11) before spending the 2012 season with the Chicago Bears.  He played under Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley with the Buccaneers in 2008.

A native of Greenville, Florida, Hayes has played in 71 career games with 45 starts.  His career totals include 291 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.    In 2012, he saw action in 15 games with three starts for the Bears and totaled 24 tackles and one passed defensed.

Hayes was a three-year letterman at Florida State and left school following his junior season.  He played in 35 games with 21 starts and registered 156 tackles, eight sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss.  He attended Madison County High School in Greenville.
