JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--Maurice Jones-Drew says he is ten pounds lighter after his first practice of the season on a hot and humid day at Everbank Field. Mojo ended his 38 day holdout and is expected to be the third down back against the Vikings this Sunday in the season opener.
"All it is, is trying to get a feel for things at the end of the day. I feel good." Jones-Drew said after practice and added he is excited to be out there with the offense because he has seen what they can do in the games. Head coach Mike Mularkey expects Mojo to contribute Sunday but needs more time to see where he is in his preparation, "He looks game ready. I need to see more than an hour and a half of practice."
The team voted on team captains today. Brad Meester and Blaine Gabbert are the offensive team captains with Paul Posluszny and Daryl Smith serving as captains on the defense and Montel Owens getting the call for special teams.
On the injury front Smith is expected to play in Minnesota, Derek Cox is a still a question mark with Uche Nwaneri trying to work his way back into the offensive line.
