JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--Today is a big day for Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert the projected starter at qb who's been out with an injured thumb, "we'll give it a go today and see how it feels, a quarterback has to be able to use his thumb," said Gabbert.
If Gabbert can't play, then Chad Henne will get the nod. Henne told us today, "I've been preparing all along like I'm the starter, but that's something I do each and every week, regardless," said Henne. The back up has had some memorable opening days in his past, including perhaps his finest moment as a pro opening day 2011 with the Miami Dolphins. He threw for 416 yards, and ran for 59 more but was outgunned by Tom Brady's 516 yards passing in a loss to New England. "That's Brady," said Henne.
Plenty of rookies will also make their NFL debut's this Sunday, including Ace Sanders, Denard Robinson and Luke Joeckel. The fact that the Jags are hosting the Kansas City Chiefs, the one team that passed on Joeckel is not lost on the first year right tackle. "Everybody wants to be the first pick, but I'm happy to be a Jaguar and can't wait to get started," said Joeckel.
Actionnewsjax.com will update the Gabbert injury later in the day.
