What is next for Blackmon?
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--The Jaguars are waiting for Justin Blackmon to return to Jacksonville following his second arrest for driving under the influence. Blackmon was arrested at 3 a.m. Sunday morning in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The fifth overall in the NFL Draft blew a reported .24 on his breathalyzer after being pulled over for erratic driving. I spoke with the Jaguars Monday afternoon. They tell me that Blackmon is on his way to Jacksonville and will meet with general manager Gene Smith and head coach Mike Mularkey. The Jaguars say that once they talk with Blackmon in person they will be able to comment on his arrest.
Blackmon's problems may be bigger than what his new empoyers have in mind. The arrest is something that is sure to get the attention of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Drug and alcohol matters are under the NFL's jurisdiction. The Jaguars can add any punishment but it is a league matter first.
