BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The fans love new uniforms and the players get excited too. Before everyone, even the players in the Jaguars locker room got to see the new look, wide receiver Justin Blackmon had a chance to go to Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon (just outside of Portland), and try on the new look.
The interesting part of the uniform for the players is that aesthetics are only part of the equation. Players are more concerned about the fit. The jersey is snug so other teams cannot grab at the uniform. Blackmon said that he can do the same things in a uniform that he does outside the uniform. The second year player says it feels like he's in a t-shirt.
Blackmon's favorite part of the new uniform is the helmet because of the black matte fading to the gold and the pronounced new Jaguars logo on each side.
Nike Headquarters is interesting because there is a lot of testing that takes place for an athlete's performance and for an athlete's apparel and equipment. The football players have given a lot of feedback on how they want the uniform to fit and Nike's latest design cooperates with their opinions.
