BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars unveiled the new uniforms to Jacksonville and to the world on Tuesday but Action News, the home of the Jaguars, got a sneak peak while at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, a couple of weeks ago. It was the conclusion to a two year process for Shad Khan and the Nike designers.
"The new logo was a start," said the Jaguars owner at Tuesday's news conference. "Our uniforms needed a new look, too. The results are nothing short of spectacular."
Nike's lead designer on the Jaguars uniforms is Todd Van Horne. He worked closely with Khan and the Jaguars in developing an idea and an inspiration that embodies the owner, the franchise and the city.
Van Horne told us about Nike's presence in football for the last 40 years and how the innovation of the uniform has transformed his business and the players in the National Football League.
The designer met with Khan and other Jags personnel a number of times in person and via teleconference to come up with the final product. Van Horne said the final product was finished late last season, but it was just two weeks ago that Justin Blackmon put the uniform on at Nike Headquarters that the finished product looked complete.
