JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Antwon is a boy who's struggling to rebuild his confidence. He suffered quite the blow last year when his adoption failed. He's been in foster care since he was only a year old. A couple of years ago, he was introduced to the man who would take a promise to take care of him as his dad. Antwon thought he was finally home.

"Everything was fine until a month later. He started being mean when we got to Jacksonville."

Antwon, who's now 12, says it was like his adoptive dad changed overnight. He became the object of his father's frustrations. Antwon suffered unimaginable physical and emotional abuse, until one day, he'd had enough. He called police for help.

"I called the police and told them I was really hurt," Antwon says.

Antwon was born into a big family. He's one of 12 children. He was put into the foster system because his mother couldn't care for them all. He's ended up in one unstable situation after another. Still, he's hopeful he'll be adopted again. This is time to find the right family that's ready for him.

You could show Antwon that family means forever.  If you are interested in adopting Antwon or any of the children you’ve seen on Jacksonville’s Children—pick up the phone and call Family Support Services.
