JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Cherokee and Austin are in foster care, but they understand what family is all about. Love is never an inconvenience, it's patient and protects.
"I love him and I want to make sure he's okay at all times," says Cherokee.
And she's rewarded by spontaneous hugs and kisses from her busy baby brother. Cherokee is 12 and Austin is 6. The reason the two were taken into foster care Cherokee tells me, is because they were left home a lot to fend for themselves. Sometimes someone would get hurt, they'd get hungry, and Cherokee would have to figure it all out.
"My mom and dad didn't protect me."
All children deserve the protection of a parent. These two have share so much with one another, but they still have so much to learn about love and family.
