JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Within minutes of hitting Adventure Landing, I find out fast that "lady luck" is definitely on Christian's side.

I took him to Adventure Landing for some fun, because it's a teen's paradise with so many video games to choose from.

When it came to playing hoops, we did some trash talking, then he beat me four games in a row. That's tough on an ego!

But our visit wasn't all fun and games.

Christian and I talked about his first introduction to our Jacksonville's Children's segment. A few years ago I featured him along with his twin brother.

This time, Christian was honest with me. When we first met, he wasn't ready for adoption. His brother met a match and has been adopted without him.

"When you're little you don't have control over what you say or do", said Christian.

"I was 4-years old and very sad. I thought it was my fault I was away from my mom", says Christian.
He tells me he just needed a little extra time to heal and move on from his past.

At 13, he's maturing and he's ready to move forward with his life. He was only a pre-schooler when he was taken into foster care.

"I was 4-years old and very sad. I thought it was my fault I was away from my mom", says Christian.

He understands now that his childhood wasn’t his fault. Drugs had a hold on his mother and there's nothing he could do about it.

But there is  something he can control and that's accepting the fact he can get fresh start in life, by opening his heart to the idea of adoption.

"I get to have a family and someone is looking out for me", says Christian.

If you are interested in adopting Christian or any of the children you’ve seen on Jacksonville’s Children—pick up the phone and call Family Support Services.

The number is: (904)  421-5800.
