JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- College football star, lawmaker, inventor. Just some of the accomplishments 15-year old Gabriel has on his long list of aspirations.
Gabriel has big dreams for himself.
"I want to be the first one out of my siblings to go to college for sports and get a degree."
Gabriel is active and ambitious. He refuses to let life get him down. This teen says he's learned early if you fall, pick yourself up and move forward. He's had lots of practice in his life already.
"When I was 4, 11-years ago, we all were divided from each other."
Gabriel is talking about being taken from his mother, a single mom with five children.
"She got addicted to drugs, my sister called the cops and we all went to foster care."
The next several years weren't much better. Gabriel's siblings were either old enough to be on the own or they were adopted. He was sent to live with his father. After several rocky years, Gabriel said the verbal abuse was more than he could take. He called for help and was sent to foster care. He's now hoping for a new start. He says adoption will be his most important accomplishment of all.
"I think it would finally make me part of a family, because I grew up without one."
