JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  Jamarion is just 6 years old.  He loves things little boys can’t get enough of: playing games, and winning prizes.

So I took him to a place I was sure he’d love: Adventure Landing. Let’s just say it was a success.

Over a game of Guitar Hero, I asked Jamarion to open up about his difficult life.  He doesn’t like to talk about it much. Even though he’s 6-years-old, he understands why he is in foster care.

“My mom is in jail,” he told me.  “All my family is in jail.”

A terrible realization for such a sweet little boy.

Case workers told me that Jamarion’s mother has been in trouble with the law for years.  She would sometimes leave him alone for hours. Sometime he would wander off when she should have been watching him.

One time, police found him at a busy market—alone. It would be the last time.

Jamarion was taken into foster care.

“I like to play with my toys and wrestling men,” he says, when I ask him about his favorite things to do.

But no toy would compare to having a mom and dad.  When I asked Jamarion why kids need moms and dads, he told me, “To take care of them.”

Maybe you could be the one to take care of Jamarion.

If you are interested in adopting Jamarion or any of the children you’ve seen on Jacksonville’s Children—pick up the phone and call Family Support Services.

The number is: (904) 421-5800.
