JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Josh is a friendly, sensitive 8-year old. He shared with me one the hurt he's suffered in his young life. Losing his best friend, his dog, Piper.

Our friends at the Jacksonville Humane Society invited us over, to help him start the healing process. Workers there enlisted help from a cute pup named Daisy.

He loved her.

Josh learned a lot about caring for pets on our visit.

"Would you like to pet her Miss Dawn?”he asked me.

Josh is going to be great pet owner one day. He's kind-hearted and gentle. Even though losing Piper was tough, losing his parents as you can imagine has been the biggest blow of all.

"One day a stranger came and said I needed to go with them, because they saw how I was being treated,” he says.

"Once the adoption is final, I'll really start calling them mommy and daddy.”
Josh wishes things could've been different but he understands the danger he was in.

He was beaten and neglected.  He was taken into foster care for his safety.

Josh understands why he's being featured on Jacksonville's Children. He told me, he knows good people are watching.

"I'll get good treatment and healthy food, and junk food every once in a while.”

But the icing on the cake for this little guy, would be having brothers and sisters.

Someone to play ball with, doing homework with, and most of all he's looking forward to telling his friends that he has parents too.

"Once the adoption is final, I'll really start calling them mommy and daddy.”
