Jacksonville's Children: Latisha
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Latisha's mother was her world, and all they had was each other. As an only child, Latisha says she was spoiled rotten.
"She was a cool person. She would give me everything I needed and everything I wanted!"
Latisha is now 15. She was rescued from her home by DCF three years ago, shortly before her mother was diagnosed as a schizophrenic.
"She kept getting worse and worse by the day."
Her mother is now in a mental health facility for care, which has left Latisha all alone. She lost the only family she had, but she understands why. She just hopes her mother is getting the help she needs. Right now, Latisha needs help as well. She needs the love and understanding of a family. She says it'll be one of the happiest days of her life when she gets a call for a possible adoption!
