JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Matthew's words are plain and simple. He wants to be adopted.

"I just want to see who out there wants me," he says.

If Matthew's face looks familiar, it is because I interviewed him for the first time in 2010.

Matthew was rescued from a locked room where he was never allowed to leave when he was nine. He's now 13.

He wasn't allowed to go to school, he had never been to the doctor's office for a check-up. His neighbors never even knew he existed, until someone finally got suspicious and called police.  It's a call Matthew believes saved his life.

"It sure did. I'm glad I'm not in the hole I was in."

"I need to go somewhere and stay put," he says with a smile.

Right now, Matthew lives in a foster home and he's grateful to all of the people who have touched his life. He's rotated in and out of a handful of homes over the past few years.

Matthew is ready for the next phase of his life now. He says it's been tough growing close to so many good people and then having to let go.

"Some wanted to move, some wanted to quit and retire or got tired of doing foster care," he says.

Matthew knows there's a great big world out there and foster care has been his safe haven. He's now ready to spread his wings and fly. It's time to live life to the fullest. He wants a family to help him look forward and not back.

Matthew has a few words to describe what he wants most.

"I need to go somewhere and stay put," he says with a smile.

We're hoping you have room in your home and your heart for a young teen who's ready for the best now life has to offer.
