JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- "I am somebody, I am unique.  Never has been or will be another like me.”

Reshonda is reading to me from a poem she's memorized. She goes on to say, she's truly one of a kind and there could never be another like her. And she's right.

Even though she was turned over to the foster care system when she was just a baby, she's no exception, like every child, she's also worthy of love.

For this 17-year-old who's been in foster care since she was just a baby, having a mother and father to call her own would be a dream come true.

"I just wanna be adopted,” said Reshonda.

"I'm not going to give up hope,” she tells me.

I first met Reshonda when she was 12. It's been five years since I've seen her. She was quick to remind me, she's still waiting for her forever family.

"I want to be in a family where , when I get older I can go back for anything", she says.

Reshonda needs a guiding hand, she's considered special needs. Her caseworkers tell me, with the right care and attention she'll continue to flourish. This teen has practiced patience and perseverance her whole life, and she's not giving up now.

"I'm not going to give up hope,”  she tells me.

Hope that someone will find her special, worthy of love and worthy of something she's been deprived of her whole life-- a family.
