Jacksonville's Children: Sasha
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sasha may not have the perfect home life right now, but she takes comfort in knowing she's had once. When her biological mother refused to bond with her after birth, her aunt took her in and raised her as her very own. About a year before our interview her aunt passed away. During our time together for our Jacksonville Children's segment, Sasha was happy to talk about the only mom she's ever known.
"I was a mama's girl! Yes! I would hop in the bed and watch t.v. with her. We'd talk for hours, we had so much fun", Sasha said.
At 15-years old, Sasha feels the world around her continues, but her world is at a standstill. Her family members told her they were too overwhelmed to take her in after her aunt's death. Sasha shared with me her take on it. She believes, her aunt was an angel for picking her up from the hospital days after her birth and raising her like a daughter. She feels in her heart, it'll happen again for her one days soon. For now, she'll keep her promise to her aunt, by staying on the honor roll and always being respectful. If an angel came to her rescue and adopted her once, she feels, it'll happen again. She just has to be patient.
