Jacksonville, Fla. - Basil Thai & Sushi is located on Hendricks Avenue in Downtown Jacksonville. Restaurant worker Francie was very surprised it was at the top of the critical list this week. Basil Thai & Sushi had 16 critical violations this week including an employee making sushi with their bare hands, an employee washing their hands - with gloves on and the inspector found no proof of employee training. Francie told us the restaurant was closed until 5pm. She tried calling the manager with no luck but let us look inside the kitchen anyway. We saw one dirty plate but other than that the kitchen looked clean. Francie says the state health inspector just caught them on a busy, bad day, "The day she came we had 3 workers have emergencies, we were really busy. I'm really, really sorry. Our restaurant is clean. I eat here every day the food here is good!"
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for critical violations.
The Taco Shop in Saint Augustine had 16 critical violations including a stop sale issued on potentially hazardous food due to temperature abuse: The mahi was at 80 degrees. You can see that

At Pompeii Coal Fired Pizza in Jacksonville there were 15 critical violations including the hand wash sink not accessible: it was blocked by a table. You can see that report by
