Jacksonville, Fla - The stand alone Burger King at the corner of Collins and Blanding in Jacksonville is owned by
Southern Kings Holdings. The company owns several franchise locations here in Florida. We asked to speak to the manager about an emergency order the state issued for roaches in the restaurant. 52 roaches were found inside an icee machine, behind the ice cream machine and walking on the wall. You can see that report by clicking here.

After waiting several minutes for a few employees to get the manager... we were told, "No comment".

Outside the restaurant, we saw a man about to head through the drive-thru. Marcello says he loves Burger King and eats at this location often. He read the state report out loud, "Nine live roaches found in the ice cream machine and walking on the wall? I think I'm gonna go to another restaurant. That's gross and disgusting."

Restaurant owner Bill Thompson sent us this statement:

Hello Tera , I am Bill Thompson owner operator of Burger King restaurant located at 7900 Blanding Blvd.in Jacksonville Florida. Our # 1 priority has and always will be food safety in our restaurants. During our routine Health Inspection on Thursday 12/8/11 one piece of equipment was found to have roaches near the inside motor of the equipment. As soon as the inspector found the roaches we voluntarily closed the restaurant immediately to allow us to correct the problem. We immediately contacted our pest control company to assist us in correcting the problem. The Health Department came back to our restaurant on 7900 Blanding Blvd. the next morning and allowed the restaurant to reopen based on the problem being corrected.

Thompson also told us his Burger King on Blanding in Orange Park received a clean plate - just last week.

Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for violations....

The Dunes Cracker House in Saint Augustine had 26 critical violations including: insects in the flour
