Jacksonville, Fla - We had to call the police while doing our Restaurant Report this week. One of our Action News photographers was attacked by a mad restaurant owner. It was all caught on camera. Three Chinese restaurants top the list this week for having the most violations.
After knocking on the door several times at
Choi's Chinese Food in Atlantic Beach - there was no answer. Minutes later, it turned ugly. The owner of the restaurant came outside and told us to get off the property, which we immediately did. After we left and were across the street - the owner walked over and confronted Action News photographer Mike Rue. The owner used a can of spray paint on our camera lens and even sprayed Mr. Rue in the face. The police were called and a report was filed. Using the name on the police report we were able to confirm the man who attacked us is in fact the owner of the restaurant.
We wanted to ask him about 16 critical violations at Choi's Chinese Food including:
USING CRACKED AND BROKEN EGGS
"TO GO" BAGS USED AS STORAGE IN THE FREEZER
AND NO HAND SOAP IN THE EMPLOYEE BATHROOM
Chine One Chinese Restaurant in St. Augustine had 14 critical violations including:
BRINGING IN AND SERVING ICE FROM HOME
EMPLOYEES TOUCHING READY-TO-EAT FOOD WITH BARE HANDS
AND SCALLOPS WERE MISREPRESENTED ON THE MENU - BAGS IN THE KITCHEN WERE LABELED 'SCALLOP FLAVORED FISH NUGGETS'
At
Hunan Wok in Jacksonville the inspector found 13 critical violations including:
NOT WASHING FRUITS AND VEGGIES BEFORE USING
SOILED MATERIAL ON THE SLICER
AND EMPLOYEES NOT WASHING THEIR HANDS BEFORE PREPARING FOOD
Congratulations to our clean plate award winners of the week. All of these restaurants received perfect inspections.
