Jacksonville, Fla - We stopped by the
Golden Corral on Merrill road in Jacksonville to see the kitchen this week. When we arrived there was already a busy lunch crowd eating. The restaurant received more than a dozen critical violations from the state inspector. The manager greeted us right when we walked in. We immediately asked him about the critical violations listed in the report, "Your customers are going to want to know why your employees aren't washing their hands."
He told us we were not allowed inside the kitchen and then asked us to wait a moment while he called the corporate office.
Golden Corral had 21 violations, 16 of them were critical:
POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS FOOD NOT AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE ON THE BUFFET
EMPLOYEES TOUCHING BODY PARTS AND THEN MAKING FOOD WITHOUT WASHING HANDS
AND NO HAND SOAP AT THE HANDWASH SINK
When the manager came back to see us we told him we wanted to see inside the kitchen. He replied, "I have no comment." We again asked him about his employees not washing their hands before handling food. He responded by pointing at a piece of paper, "It has the number you need to call." We asked one last time to see inside the kitchen. "No ma'am" he replied. We asked, "Why? Is it because it isn't clean?" The manager said, "I'm sorry ma'am" and then shut the door to his office.
First Wok in Middleburg also received 21 violations with 16 of them critical including:
FLIES EVERYWHERE ON THE EGG ROLLS
A LOT OF LIVE FLIES IN THE KITCHEN
AND EMPLOYEES TOUCHING FOOD WITH THEIR BARE HANDS AND NOT WASHING HANDS
The Peking Chinsese Restaurant in Saint Augustine had 26 violations, 17 of them critical including:
EMPLOYEE HANDLING RAW EGGS THEN TOUCHING OTHER FOOD WITHOUT WASHING HANDS
NO PROOF OF TRAINING FOR WORKERS
AND EMPLOYEES EATING FOOD IN THE PREP AREA
