Jacksonville, FLA. - If you're in the mood for Mexican food, La Nopalera on Crosshill Boulevard in Jacksonville is a popular lunch and dinner spot. The state health inspector found 15 critical violations here this week including a bowl of cooling chicken on the floor, an employee handling food without washing their hands, mold on the margarita dispenser, a tray of dishes blocking the hand wash sink, live flies in the kitchen and no manager on duty.
The store manager, Pablo Leao says, "We fixed all the problems. We did have a lot of violations but it's a good thing they were all minor. I took care of the problems with the employees. As far as no manager being on duty... I forgot to schedule the proper manager which won't happen again. I don't want to scare off our customers and want them to know we fixed everything and next time the inspector comes they will see a clean kitchen."
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for critical violations.
Over The Ditch Café in Saint Augustine had 15 critical violations including unwrapped butter pats being re-served to customers.
Lee's Dragon on Baymeadows in Jacksonville had 11 critical violations including cooked chickens that had to be thrown out because they were potentially hazardous to eat at 14 days old.
