Jacksonville, FLA. - The Mexicali Bakery and Restaurant is a stand alone establishment located on University Boulevard South not far from Interstate 95. The owner was not happy to see us. She refused to talk to us about the report which was an emergency order.
The state health inspector shut down Mexicali Bakery this week for the following:
A stop sale was issued on the food because a bag of onions and potatoes had been sprayed with Raid pesticide, there were dead and live roaches found all over the kitchen and the health inspector says an employee was also spraying raid on a basket of onions.
The owner says nothing in the state's report is true... but still refused to let us in here to see the kitchen. She pointed out that she is no longer closed and then said she has no comment for her customers. We were then escorted out of the restaurant.
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for critical violations.
At Casa Maria's Mexican Restaurant on Main Street in Jacksonville there were 17 critical violations including pesticide omitting fly strips hanging above the cook line and prep tables.
At Taps Bar & Grill on State Road 210 in Jacksonville there were also 17 critical violations including live flies in the kitchen.
