Jacksonville, Fla. - At The Southern Grill in Jacksonville, Joey Farah is known for his breakfast and his barbecue. He was surprised to learn he was on the top of the list this week for violations with 23 critical write-ups. He says he's been running his southern style restaurant in the river city for 13 years without a problem. Farah immediately invited us into his kitchen to look around and took the time to go over each violation with us one by one. He says, "We don't want to have anything dirty or make anyone sick. There was nothing major on the list. It was a lot of small things."
Like the barbecue racks. The inspector didn't like the looks of them and reported them as being soiled. You can see the full report by

Farah's response, "Well, it's a smoker. We clean it once a week. It's a smoker."
We asked, "What about not having sanitizer in the sink?" Farah says his dishwasher was right in the middle of changing the water when the inspector came in.
He was also written up for operating without a current license.
"There was a mishap," Farah says. "I called the State and they just didn't send it. They had my money... it just never came."

Mi Tierra Mexican Groceries in Jacksonville received 16 critical violations. The inspector found toxic growth on some of the potatoes in the kitchen.
At
The Conch House in Saint Augustine the inspector found 14 critical violations which included the manager being ordered to stop serving the chicken chili because of temperature abuse.
