Jacksonville, Fla. - The Tuptim Thai restaurant is located in a busy shopping center off Solana Road in Ponte Vedra.
It has only been open for 8 months but this week Tuptim Thai had the most number of critical violations. We were invited to see inside the kitchen where we saw dirty dishes and dump bins on the floor but no roaches. The state health inspector shut Tuptim Thai down temporarily for dozens of roaches. Live and dead ones were found in the kitchen. The inspector also listed a critical violation for the back door...it doesn't close all the way and the screen is ripped open. During our visit (7 days after the original state inspection) the door still had not been fixed. We took the issue straight to manager, Somchai Kainga. We asked Kainga, "Isn't it your responsibility as the owner to fix it?" He told us, "Yes ma'am, we supposed to do it right but I need experienced people to fix it very very well." Kainga promised all problems will be fixed this week. His message to his customers, "I'm so sorry everyone. I love customers and want the best for them too."
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for critical violations.
At Duke's Famous BBQ in Green Cove Springs there was an emergency order issued for dead and live roaches.
Another emergency shut down happened at the Hardee's on JTB in Jacksonville. Live roaches were found inside a prep cooler.
