Thanks for checking out the Restaurant Report. Here you will find a weekly list of restaurants in our area with the most violations - as well as our "clean plate" awards. A clean plate is given to the restaurant with zero violations during an inspection.
  • Have questions about a specific restaurant?
  • Need to sound off about a recent dining experience?
  • Want to give a 'clean plate' award of your own?
Email me! I'm here to help and I look forward to your feedback.

This comment is for TERA BARZ I am a patron who visited the WOK HOUSE (CHINESE RESTAURANT ) 12630 BEACH BLVD, JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA on 03/01/2012 between 6:45 and 7:00 pm . I ordered several take out platters . when i returned home to serve the food , I discovered a live roach in the pork fried rice . ( I guess you can call it roach fried rice). How deplorable and disgusting. I imeddiatley advised my family to stop eating , and bagged up all the food and returned it the WOK HOUSE (ROACH HOUSE). Where I advised the manager of my discovery, she abtley without any kind of look of surprise or amazement refunded my total amount of purchase. I thought about warning some of the other patrons there in the restaurant about what happened. but calmly walked out the restaurant and vowed to never look back or return. I feel like I can never ever go out to eat or buy takeout food again. ......PLEASE TERA PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE WOK HOUSE , because if their is one live roach in my food , im sure there are others around as well. Hey, how about an on going list of the "clean plate award" winners, as that's were I'd prefer to eat! Let's give the business owners doing a good job some more airtime and send some business their way, especially the local businesses that are struggling to keep up with the corporate owned chains. Thanks...

Never again! Pompous owner & clueless servers! Went there for my grandmother in-law's 85th birthday (sweet woman), with my mother in-law and my wife. It seemed busy, but there were 5 tables open, 3 since we arrived. After about 20 minutes of standing around I approached the owner which was keeping himself away from everything by the kitchen counter. I asked nicely if there was a chance to be seated since the tables were available. He dismissed me with some attitude and saying that they knew what they were doing, which obviously they didn't. The staff seemed too scared to sit us, they had no host in front and one server seemed like he was trying to help but had no clue himself plus he had his own tables. Seemed they were scared to make any moves without approval. The server even snapped at Mimi (grandma). When they finally sat us at one of the empty tables that was available since we arrived (35 minutes later) we were quietly voicing our concerns when the owner came to our table and said "well you folks don't have to stay any longer". After that rudeness we decided to go. Not one rude comment from us, but very rude treatment from the staff. And Mimi was a regular at the restaurant! The food looked good but never got a taste and never will. The owner seemed to have the attitude that he was above all and that the customers were there for him and not the other way around. As a family we like to offer our support to our local non-chain restaurants but with an attitude like that no wonder they are losing the franchise battle. We wound up at the trusty Bahama Breeze with quick seating and a wonderful waitress (Nicole) who showed appreciation for our patronage. Go Bahama Breeze! In my search for reviews on this restaurant I have seen that they have had many violations since 2009, but not much for 2011. They need a surprise visit from the restaurant report. If they treat an 85 year old woman this way I could just imagine how they keep their food.
