The Atlantic Basin remains generally quiet though there has been a gradual uptick in shower & t'storm activity over the Western Gulf of Mexico.  This trend should continue & it still looks like possible tropical development in a week or so over the Western Caribbean &/or Gulf of Mexico.

Meanwhile....in the E. Pacific...."Carlotta" has rapidly organized & -- if the storm can stay offshore long enough -- could become a formidable hurricane as it brushes the Southwest Mexico coast & will likely bring rough seas & surf to Acapulco & might get close enough to bring some heavy rain.
