An impressive band of rain & thunderstorms extends from the Central & Western Atlantic across Florida into the Gulf of Mexico.  This heavy rain is associated with a surface front/trough and an upper level trought.  No surface development is indicated & no significant surface low development is anticipated.  Otherwise....the tropics are quiet.

Meanwhile....gas can manufacturers are warning of a shortage of the plastic gas containers.  Of course, these cans are have all sorts of useful purposes but are especially needed during & after major storms includinig hurricanes.  It appears the problem is related to a company going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy plus a number of lawsuits against manufacturers.  Click here to read the story (photo below courtesy PFCMA).
