JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two SUVs were involved in a head-on collision around 7 a.m. Saturday that kept several lanes of Atlantic Boulevard shut down for hours.

The crash happened along Atlantic Boulevard near Brookside Circle in Arlington.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says that a Ford Explorer crossed the roadway and hit a Nissan SUV.

The driver of the Nissan was declared dead at the scene and the driver of the Ford was transported to UF Health Jacksonville, according to first responders.

JSO lists the victim of the crash as 45-year-old Chantel Jonson.

Investigators are looking to identify and speak to the driver of the small red Pontiac vehicle to gather witness details of the incident.

Detectives say alcohol likely played a factor in the crash.
