WILLISTON, Fla. -- Gunfire rang out Saturday night during the Crab Festival in a town outside of Gainesville, killing 1 and injuring 4 others.

The injured went to numerous hospitals in Ocala and Gainesville.

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office has identified the sole victim as 36-year-old Barry Barney.

No suspects are currently in custody.

Investigators believe the number of casualties was kept low because of the number of first responders already on scene for the festival.

It is estimated that 10,000 people a year visit Williston for the Crab Festival.

Investigators say the Crab Festival operates yearly without official permits and has been home to violent acts in the past.

Deputies ask that any witnesses to the shootings contact Lt. Scott Tummond at 352-486-5111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477.

"Investigators say the Crab Festival operates yearly without official permits and has been home to violent acts in the past." I guess that if the government got involved and starting requiring some sort of high dollar permit, the violence would go away???
