This is a SAD example of someone not wanting to care for their pet anymore. It was released, and shot. This is very, very sad. The Georgia Reptile Society wants to educate people about these animals, and give them an alternative to KILLING it just because they believe it is dangerous! We promote RESPONSIBLE pet ownership! This owner who released this animal did more than just have his/her pet shot and killed due to a misunderstanding: they have also tainted owners of large pythons in this state. If you or anyone you know is looking to re-home their reptile: whether it is a small gecko or a 12 foot python: Contact the Georgia Reptile Society and we will put them in touch with a rescue group - this doesn't have to happen!
